The Future of Missions

“Teacher, I love you!”

“Come on! We get to go to SCHOOL!”

These exclamations were shared repeatedly and with such volume that everyone within earshot was compelled to smile.

In April, I had the privilege of spending 10 days with more than 20 AFM missionary children for up to eight hours a day. What a wonderful time we had! The theme of our time together was “Trading Places.” We “traveled” to seven different countries and studied seven different Bible characters whose lives were transformed by God. There were also crafts, games, music and a visit to the zoo where we held baby crocodiles and petted iguanas.

I can testify that we have an incredible group of missionary kids. I also had four hard-working student missionaries leading out in the various aspects of this ministry. Put this all together, and it was a life-changing experience for everyone. For the missionary kids who don’t often have a chance to experience a typical vacation Bible school or even a Sabbath School, this was an exhilarating time together.

As I look into their fresh, young faces, I see the future leaders of the Church. I see gifts, talents and personalities that God is using and will use to bring people to Him. Their experience in the field matters, because their future hangs on it. When a missionary family returns home early, the most common reason is family needs.

Your gift to the AFM Go Fund helps support missionary families as they serve. Whether for training, communications, supervision, coaching or resource development, your gifts impact lives—not only now, but for generations to come.
