Thomas

Three weeks ago, Thomas came to the group meeting Colette and I teach in an outlying village every Sunday morning. He sat down with a frown, looking like a kid whose parents are making him do something he really doesn’t want to do. He looked very disturbed, almost as if he were in pain. Since this is an open group, we gladly welcomed him.

When it was time for prayer, Thomas spoke up. “Pray for me,” he said. “I don’t know what I am doing here. Since you began these meetings, I have been avoiding you. Every time I see you all sitting here, I want to come and pick up the chairs and throw them. Usually I just go out of my way to avoid passing by. This morning, a voice—an urging—told me to come here and listen. It was so strong, I couldn’t refuse. So here I am. Pray for me because I don’t know what I am doing here.” So we prayed for Thomas and continued the program.
The next week, I was sick and couldn’t be there, but Bony and Colette went. The week after that, I went back with Colette to teach. When Thomas showed up at the meeting, I had to look twice before I recognized him. His face was completely changed—he looked peaceful and happy.

He knows why he is supposed to be with us now. He asks us to pray for all the others who don’t know yet about this God of heaven. God is calling His people to Him. A battle is raging for the minds and hearts of people all over the earth. God is calling, but the workers—people committed to giving all and submiting to Him—are few. Is God calling you into His harvest field?
