“Can you pray for my healing?” asked Mama Augustin. She had come to my house with her sister who is an evangelical Christian. I told her I would be happy to pray.

Mama Augustin’s sickness is due at least in part to demonic influence. She knows this, but she refuses to give up the fetish practices that enable the demons’ power in her life. In any case, I left that up to God. I laid my hands on her, as the Bible instructs, and I prayed. As I finished praying, Mama Augustin’s sister exclaimed, “Praise the Lord!” Excitedly, she told me she had suffered with abdominal pain for two years. She had been to several doctors, but none could diagnose the problem. She said that while I was praying, the pain completely went away!

Mama Augustin chose not to allow God’s healing presence in her life, but her Christian sister did, and she received the blessing I had prayed for Mama Augustin. She was very happy and went away praising God.
