“During our family’s Christmas/New Year celebration, my father took down his big fetish and sacrificed a bunch of chickens over it,” Jack told me this last Sabbath. “I didn’t want to eat chicken offered to the fetish. The Bible says not to eat of it. I saw that one of the wives got some chickens that hadn’t been sacrificed, so I hoped I could go to her place to eat. But when the time came to eat, they told me I had to eat at another wife’s house. In her pot, she had chicken that had been sacrificed to the fetish, so I couldn’t eat it or the sauce. I asked for fish instead. I was the only one who ate fish. It is hard for me to have to give up eating chicken. I like it, but I can’t turn my back on God and eat it when it has been sacrificed to Satan. I thank God that He provided me some fish to eat.”

Jack has to deal with this issue quite regularly since his father is a devoted fetish worshipper. Jack is a very sweet guy even though he puts up with lots of beatings from his father. He knows very well the power of Satan, but he trusts in the power of God to protect him. He understands that Jesus’ death on the cross breaks the chains of Satan, and Jesus’ name is a strong tower where the righteous are safe.

Pray for Jack that he will continue strong in his faith and that the heart of his father will be softened and he will continue to let Jack worship God.
