“Mrs. Orion!” I heard Mrs. Roy’s cheerful voice call from behind me a few seconds after we finished our conversation. I returned to her table in the market where she sells soap and herbal remedies. We talked for several more minutes before I walked away for the second time.
I headed toward my favorite section of the market, the baskets and handicrafts. I began my usual slow round, looking at the beautiful handiwork. Suddenly, I heard a loud argument ahead of me. I stopped walking and prayed that God would calm the argument and prevent anyone from getting hurt. A security officer showed up with a megaphone. Shortly thereafter, peace was restored, and people quietly resumed their conversations.
As I began walking again, I realized that if it hadn’t been for Mrs. Roy calling me back, I would have been standing right where the fight broke out. But why had she called me? What she had talked about wasn’t really that important.
When I got home, I found an e-mail in my inbox from Mrs. Vera. “Dear Keren,” it began, “I have not been able to sleep tonight, so I have spent a lot of time praying for you.” The e-mail continued, but I stopped reading and looked at the time the email was sent. She had been praying exactly when I had been in the market! God had known I needed extra safety and had inspired Mrs. Vera to pray for me, and specifically for my safety.
Thank you to each of our prayer warriors. Although I am not always able to specifically match the answer with the prayer, I am confident that God hears and answers every one of your prayers.
