Adrian & Sumako Solis

Volunteer Missionary Candidates since 2024, serving the Japanese of Japan.

Adrian was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. His life was changed forever when he moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where a traveling Adventist evangelist conducted a Bible prophecy crusade. For the first time, Adrian fully heard the gospel of Jesus and the three angel’s messages. He was baptized into the Adventist church, and God soon called him into ministry. He attended Southwestern Adventist University and then began serving as a missionary and pastor in Japan, where he met his wife, Sumako.

Sumako was born and raised in Okinawa, Japan, to a Buddhist family who knew nothing about Jesus. Through a series of dramatic events, God showed Sumako the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Accepting Jesus as her Savior, she began her journey through the Adventist college system and beyond, earning degrees in Education and Mental Health.

In 2013, Adrian and Sumako married, returning to Texas to accept a call to pastoral ministry. However, God deeply impressed them that one day — they did not know how or when — they would return to the mission field of Japan, where only one percent of the people are Christian. After adopting their two wonderful boys, Michael and Caden, and Adrian completing a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Andrew’s University, they began praying and contemplating how to return to Japan as church planters and missionaries.

Through a series of events, and with deep prayer and fasting, Adrian and Sumako are convicted that now is the time to labor in the mission field, taking part in a disciple-making, church planting movement in Japan.
