“The subway system: Japan’s primary means of public transportation, used by people of all ages, including children as young as six or seven who take the subway to and from school.
During our vision trip (an opportunity for missionary candidates to visit the project country in which they will serve as career missionaries), I observed this phenomenon. One incident in particular stands out in my mind—not involving a school-age child but a toddler.
This little girl was on the train with her mother. As soon as they boarded, the toddler instinctively reached for the handrails. I could not help wondering, How does she know how to do that? The truth is, she has probably done it countless times in her short life.
As I watched her, I thought of my children, who do not yet know to hold onto the handrail as soon as they get on the train, but who do know how to hold on to Jesus to navigate every aspect of their lives. The difference between our children and this young girl is that they have had parents who know Jesus and have shared His love with them.
We hope and pray that through our ministry in Japan, we can share the love of Jesus with children like this little girl and parents like this mom so that they can instinctively trust in Him during the times of trouble that are soon to be upon us.
Please pray for the children in Japan who are growing up in a society that does not know God. Please also pray for our children as we prepare them to be little missionaries.
We appreciate your support as we work towards launching. Please prayerfully consider joining our monthly support team.
