Mission Monday: Esther and John

Updates:
We’ve had an amazing first week here at AFM!!! We’ve been learning things about safety, financial matters and hermeneutics. Coming up will be disciple making, church planting, and so much more. In the evenings we’ve been blessed with some special meetings from people who are currently working with Muslims. They are giving us great advice on how to reach out to Muslims in particular.

Right now we have 3 AFM families who will be reaching out to Muslims – us, one going to Turkey, and one going to “Mesopotamia” (we can’t say exactly where as it is extremely dangerous). We also have another family here from Mongolia. They are fruit from one of AFM’s first projects. The Mongolian project was very successful because of the sacrifice of Brad and Cathie Jolly. Brad later died from stomach cancer he contracted while in Mongolia. The family here at training call themselves “Esther” and “John” (which is easier to say than their Mongolian names). They have six children back home and are here learning all they can so that they can train young people to be missionaries to the rest of Mongolia. It is so exciting to be in training with this sweet couple.

Esther and John

I’m hoping I’ll have time to write more next week, but for now, I’ll keep it short. 😉

P.S. I almost forgot to share that today is mine and Bo’s 12-year anniversary! I’m so glad to be on this journey with him. 😉

Prayer Requests:
(same as last week)
1. For our spiritual development this summer. Church planting begins with our own hearts. Please pray that God would mold us into the people we need to be in order to be used by Him.
2. Please pray for the other missionaries here and our instructors.
3. Please pray for our teammates in Cambodia. I’m sure they get lonely. They are out there all by themselves and need God’s grace as they reach out to the people.
4. Please pray for the Great River People that God would speak to their hearts and prepare the way for the gospel. God often speaks to Muslims through dreams and visions and we’re praying that He would reveal Himself to our people in a meaningful way.
5. Please pray for all the unreached, especially those in closed countries.
