By the time you read this, the Generation of Youth for Christ Conference held in Houston, TX will have just ended. It is thrilling to go to these conferences and see how excited young people are to do something radical with their lives for the Lord. I am also reminded of the many youth out there who are still unsure about their future; wondering about what school to attend, what career to pursue, the list goes on. Yes, young people are searching for direction, and they are primed to make life-changing decisions.
If you are a young person, you may be pondering what you should do with your life. You may be considering several options, wondering which is the best. You may even be losing sleep at night. I invite you to consider the possibility of a life of mission. Do you know that there are still more than 2.5 billion people in this world who have never so much as heard the name Jesus Christ? Do you understand that many of these people will never be reached unless someone goes to them? Are you aware that your youth is a precious gift from God, and that you can do things that older people cannot? Consider the following quote: Young men are wanted. God calls them to missionary fields. Being comparatively free from care and responsibilities, they are more favorably situated to engage in the work than are those who must provide for the training and support of a large family. Furthermore, young men can more readily adapt themselves to new climates and new society, and can better endure inconveniences and hardships. By tact and perseverance, they can reach the people where they are (Gospel Workers, p. 295).
May we all, young and old, do what we can for the unreached.
