He Did It

God was in Albania before us. He has gone above and beyond our expectations and opened the hearts of those He has put in our path. It’s heartwarming to have been welcomed like family into the lives of several Albanians, and we will always be grateful for the deep, genuine friendships we have been blessed with here. As much as it’s possible for us to be at home in this world, we do feel content in this comparatively uncomfortable place. God did that.
To our great delight, God has led our Albanian friends to ask questions about what makes our faith different and why we do the things we do. In the midst of serious pain, they have asked us to pray for them and with them. During happy times of marriage and childbirth, they have asked about what the Bible teaches. They are hungry for truth yet afraid to trust others. They are hungry for real love but don’t dare believe such a thing exists for them.

God has been tearing down the devil’s strongholds here. We have seen people give up health-destroying habits, and we’ve seen miraculous healing in the name of Jesus Christ. Our two daughters have been touched by God’s love for the needy and have responded. None of us will ever be the same because He has gone above and beyond.
Though it may sound as if things have been easy here, we can tell you that the enemy is stirred up against us like a swarm of angry hornets. We face extreme challenges on every side. But rather than dwelling on this, we choose instead to focus on the beautiful and powerful evidence that our God is answering prayers.

Two years before we came to Albania, God put this small city on our hearts. We prayed for the people of this city before we knew we would be sent here. But God knew, and He went before us. He called us here. He impressed us to pray for the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of the people He knew would be seeking Him. He arranged for us to meet these people; He put them in our path, and He softened their hearts.

God called many of you to join our team of prayer warriors and supporters. Though we rejoice at what God is doing, there is no time to get complacent or distracted. We are looking for a few more dedicated prayer warriors to join us. Perhaps God is calling you to fast and pray for souls who are in darkness. If He has put the people of Albania on your heart, please contact us at maysalbania@yahoo.com or write to us. If there is another project you are drawn to pray for, then do so with all of your heart. Our Lord will continue to go above and beyond our expectations, so aim high. Expect great things!
