“We would like you to consider becoming career missionaries at the Georgia project.” A mixture of emotions has touched our hearts since receiving that call.
We were living in Thailand, serving as short-term missionaries. It was difficult to think we would leave all the people with whom we had just built strong relationships. At the same time, we were extremely excited because God was answering our prayers to become career missionaries. God had placed this desire in our hearts and, step by step, confirmed our calling.
The Troy family had been the only missionaries in the country of Georgia. Now they were gone. We had a truly short deadline because the project urgently needed a new missionary couple. In less than one month, we had to gather our documentation and await approval for U.S. visas so we could attend training. We prayed that God would open the doors, for we were seeking to do His will. By faith, we waited on Him. While we were doing our part, God was doing His. He knew our urgency and was already preparing everything for our arrival.
Our visas appeared on time. We left the Thai heat of 104 degrees and traveled to the U.S., where cold 32-degree temperatures, jet lag and culture shock greeted us. But God has blessed us greatly during this project transition. Since our first Sabbath, we started visiting the churches and individuals who supported the project. By God’s grace, many partners agreed to continue supporting the project and were willing to meet the new career missionaries. Many new partners joined our team. Regardless of the missionary, the Georgian people need reaching.
The mission is not ours; it is God’s. Jesus is eager to reach the Georgian people. Our launching goal has already been miraculously achieved. Praise the Lord! We believe God takes care of all the details and will continue opening doors.
