For us, one of the hardest things about living overseas is the physical distance from our extended family. During our time in Mali, we have lost two grandparents and missed the births of two babies. Of course, thanks to the Internet and cell phones, we are able to keep in touch long-distance, but it is not quite the same as being there in person. The distance is hard on our families, too, especially our parents. It is a sacrifice for them to let us go.

Over the past few months as we waited out the political unrest in Mali, we have greatly enjoyed our time here in the States with family. We have soaked up as much togetherness as possible, knowing our time with them is drawing to a close. We are so thankful that God comforts us every time we have to say good bye.

Now, as we plan our return to Mali, please remember our family in your prayers. We are sad to leave our U.S. family, but we are looking forward to reconnecting with our Malian family. Thanks so much for your prayers and financial support that make our return to Mali possible.
