Christian is 17 years old. I live above him and his family in the same building, and they have welcomed me into their family circle. Christian feels convicted about the Adventist faith. Though he isn’t a baptized Adventist member yet, he attends our church regularly and is very active. His family attends the local Methodist church, and he is also active there—preaching, leading the choir and helping with activities.
When Christian’s brother, Anicet, came to Kandi for his Christmas break from university, the two of them often visited me, and we discussed Adventist beliefs, such as the Sabbath, the health message and the state of the dead. Christian has been witnessing to his brother, and now Anicet is also very interested in Adventism and attends our church services and mid-week programs whenever he can.
I wish I had been more like Christian when I was his age. When he’s not at school, he’s studying or working for his family, cooking meals and doing laundry. Yet he still makes time for God and can recite Bible verses better than most people I know. He really stands out among his peers and never compromises with sin. He is one of the most dedicated and hard-working people I’ve ever met. He wants to become a medical researcher, but he also feels a growing desire to be a pastor.
Please pray that God will open doors for Christian to serve Him and that He will make His will clear in Christian’s life. Please also pray that I will have the same kind of commitment in my work that Christian has in his—that I will devote myself to all God gives me to do.
