Praise be to God! We have returned from Nuuk, Greenland, after ten wonderful days. The goal of our visit was not only to find a property but also to keep our hearts open to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

While admiring a piece of art at the Nuuk Art Museum (formerly the Seventh-day Adventist Physiotherapy Clinic until 1998), we spotted a wall hanging of an angel holding a scroll. This building, once belonging to the Seventh-day Adventist church, quickly riveted our minds on the Three Angels’ Messages.

Later that day, we met 42-year-old Em at the Culture Center art exhibition. “I couldn’t explain why I felt a strong nudge to come to you. But now I know why,” Em said more than an hour into our conversation. As a seven-year-old, Em witnessed her dad frequently beat her mom. One day, as seven-year-old Em enjoyed pancakes her dad had made, she struggled to reconcile the sweet pancakes with a sour dad. As the thoughts lingered on her mind, her dad turned on the radio, and Em heard the preacher say, “God loves you.” Soon after, Em sculpted an angel using local material. Thirty-five years later, Em believes that angels protect her.

“I came [to the Center’s café] to eat. I am very hungry, but now I know why I met you. You have encouraged me.”

Is Em’s hunger more than physical? We long for Em to also know of the Three Angels’ Messages going into all the world, messages that must go beyond art on a museum wall and into human hearts walled in by pain and past. May Em and her fellow Greenlanders come to know the loving Father, eager to have all our names written on His scroll.
