When my parents first told me that we were going to be missionaries, I felt both excited and a little nervous. I had done some mission work before, like passing out The Great Controversy books with my dad and distributing the book, Little Friends, to the kids in our neighborhood. But this time, we would be missionaries in another country. My mom had been a missionary in the past and shared many stories about her experiences in Africa, but I had never left the U.S. before, which made me a bit anxious. My parents assured me that God would be with us wherever we went.
When my parents were later asked to choose three places to serve, one of their choices was Japan. I was super excited and started learning Japanese right away. This paid off, as I now know more Japanese than my parents do! I also started studying the Japanese culture. I learned that in Japan, students wear uniforms at school and learn how to write poems called haikus. Here’s a haiku I wrote about mission work:
My name is Nicolle
I am going to Japan soon
I will share Jesus’ love
Jesus also confirmed that I would be a missionary. I dreamed that He came to me and said, “You will be a missionary in Japan one day.” I hope this dream will come true soon. Please pray for our family as we work towards our fundraising goal. Please also consider supporting us.
Parent’s note: Nicolle is the eldest child of Nakwan and Camille Kitching and is currently in the third grade.
