Chloe Popkow

Short-Term Missionary, serving the Thai of Southern Thailand from 2025-2026.

I am 22 years old, and although I was raised Adventist, I did not understand what made our church unique until I attended my first evangelism seminar. It was there that God’s truth became clear to me, leading me to devote my life to Him and get baptized on March 30, 2019.

I graduated from Southern Adventist University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Human Resources in May of 2025. While at Southern, I had heard personal testimonies from students who had dedicated a year of their lives fully to the Lord. Their stories inspired me, showing how many people around the world are searching for hope and love. I felt called to do the same and enrolled in the student missions course the following semester. I explored different Adventist organizations but didn’t sense that was where God wanted me.

With guidance from the student missions director, Pastor Parks, I discovered AFM and the Southern Thai Project in Thailand. I was especially drawn to this project because of Thailand’s cultural respect for individuals with disabilities; I was born with achondroplasia dwarfism, meaning I was born shorter in height. I believe God was leading me to the Southern Thai Project as a way of allowing what some call a disability to become an asset in my forming meaningful personal connections and leading people to their Savior, Jesus Christ.
