A blessing! That is how we describe being a part of God’s work. As career missionaries, we found that serving Him amongst the unreached refined and purified us, grew our faith and trust in God, and gave us a love for the unreached.
In becoming field directors, our love for the unreached is no less diminished, but we have taken on a different dimension of responsibility. Before, when we were working as career missionaries in Papua New Guinea, we only had to take care of our family. Now we have other families looking to us for help with decisions that will impact the work with their target people. It’s a tremendous responsibility. Whatever we say can carry a lot of weight in what they decide to do. Our desire is for each of our workers to be able to efficiently and effectively reach their people group. Still, almost all of our career workers face some major obstacle that could prevent them from fulfilling their God given work.
Supervising missionaries in creative access countries brings its challenges, but we keep reminding ourselves that this is God’s work and He has called us to be a part of it. If He wants those lost people to be reached, He will work the miracles to make it possible for humans to reach them. It would be easy enough for God to send angels to reach the lost, but He is giving mankind an opportunity to be a part of the great gospel commission. That is the greatest blessing!
What about you? Are you willing to let God bless you by using you to reach the unreached? There are still more than three billion people who do not have access to the gospel. Jesus cannot return until everyone has the opportunity to know about Him. John 9:4 says, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”
