In every town, there are those few who shine like a beacon, not because of fame or wealth, but because of their heart for people. Dani is one of those rare souls. A man with a heart of gold, Dani cares for the poor, sick, marginalized and intellectually disabled just as much as he does for those in positions of power. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life is remarkable.

Though Dani isn’t a man of high education, his wisdom and empathy have earned him the respect of his peers and even officials at City Hall. His insight into the needs of the community has made him a trusted voice. The vice-mayor often seeks his counsel about community needs, knowing Dani speaks from a place of genuine concern for the welfare of others.

Dani’s journey is a story of resilience and transformation. He was baptized over a decade ago, leaving behind the faith of his heritage. This decision, while deeply personal and life-changing, brought challenges. Some of his relatives were displeased. It even affected his work as a carpenter. Over time, he lost his business, but his faith never wavered.

Dani adapted. He took on small jobs, and though the path wasn’t easy, his spirit of service remained undiminished. Recognizing his gift for connecting with people and his deep compassion, we invited Dani to become the Community Service Director, a role that seemed tailor-made for him, allowing him to pour his energy into helping others.

We later established a foundation allowing us to receive a grant to open a center of influence in the city. The vision was for Dani to run the juice and smoothie bar portion, creating a place where people could gather and find physical, emotional and spiritual nourishment. Unfortunately, due to the church’s legal complications and delays with the transfer of building ownership, we have not yet been able to legally operate the center as a business. So, we have adapted. It has become a hub for community service, Bible studies, prayer and worship.

Despite these setbacks, Dani has remained steadfast, taking on the foundation’s Community Services Coordinator role. His leadership within The Kindness Club has only deepened the impact of his work. Open to people of all faiths and backgrounds, the club focuses on serving the city’s needy. Under his guidance, the club has become a space for anyone willing to lend a hand and make a difference. He makes every volunteer feel valued, and every person in need feel seen.

Dani continually finds ways to draw people to Jesus. But as our grant funding nears its end, we are faced with a crossroads. The work we have begun — spreading the gospel through family Bible studies, serving the needy, and becoming a beacon of hope — cannot end here.
