I was finally in Palawan and brimming with excitement, anticipation and nervousness. I got off the plane, ready to hike into the mountains and experience great hardship as I learned to do the Lord’s work. But alas, upon my arrival, I found that I would not be able to go to the mountains for quite a while because of various circumstances. The Lord had asked me to wait yet again in the beautiful little town called Brooke‘s Point.

I must admit that I am not a very patient person. Most of the time, once I finally decide to do something, I want to do it hard and fast. I am well known in my family for burning food because I did not want to wait the appropriate time for it to cook. Now it seems that in my student missions experience thus far, the Lord has seen fit that the principle course taught is Trusting and Waiting 101. Whether praying that I have filled out visa paperwork correctly or waiting for a launch date to materialize, over and over again, the Lord has shown me that I must step back, wait on Him, and remember that He makes everything happen. I am just a simple human, unable to do anything in my own strength.

So here I am again, gazing up at the mountains I can see from the town, waiting on the Lord’s timing. Each time I have waited and trusted, I have gotten a little better at it, and I thank the Lord for these lessons He is teaching me on this great adventure of being a student missionary. I have now been in Brooke’s Point for about a week and a half and have been doing my best to serve the project here in the lowlands. As I continue to work around Mountain View Farm, learn the Palawano language and help out discharged Palawano patients from the hospital, please continue to pray for the continuation of this project and that I may be a blessing to the people here.
