The Prayer Warrior

We have been in Port Moresby for a month since returning from our furlough, patiently waiting for the bank to finish its review of our documents before our project bank account can be re-activated. We check in with the bank regularly, asking them how things are going and hearing, “We will call you.” While we do have funds at another bank, we feel it would not be wise to leave the city until the account issue with the first bank is rectified.

While doing what we could to help the process along, we learned of tribal fighting between neighboring villages a mile or two from our transit house in Wewak. Opposing villagers have burned homes and killed several people.

While in Port Moresby, Orion and I have been continuing to work on the project, following God’s leading as He shows us how to carry on with reaching and serving His people. We have also been bringing our concerns before the Lord, praying for the people fighting each other and asking God for a resolution to the banking issue.

I have also been mulling over in my mind a dream I had about six weeks ago.

I was sitting on a bench in an unfamiliar place when a smiling stranger approached me. The stranger’s face and manner radiated Christ’s love and the peace that passeth all understanding.

“Excuse me. I would like to pray with you,” the stranger offered.

“Yes! Thank you,” I replied, somewhat startled.

“What are your needs, and what would you like me to bring before God in prayer?” the stranger gently asked.

I woke up from my dream, resting in the assurance of God’s love, knowing that I am exactly where He wants me to be, and mindful of you, the prayer warriors, readers and supporters back home who are bringing us before God just like the kind stranger in my dream.

Thank you for being Christ’s representative.

Note: The two fighting villages have formally forgiven one another and decided that neither will require any fines or penalty payment (both have lost most of the houses in their villages, so there isn’t much left to “pay” the other side). However, from reading posts on Facebook, Orion can tell that things are still tense.
