“I’m searching for peace in my life and have been looking at different Christian church websites,” said the voice on the phone. “I like what I’ve seen on the Seventh-day Adventist church website. Would I be able to have Bible studies?”
“Of course,” I answered. “Where do you live? Let me just look up the contact details for the pastor for your town.”
This phone call from a man named Gordon was just one of several that I periodically receive in my role as receptionist at the headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the British Isles. It’s always a great pleasure to pass their contact details to the local pastor. It’s also very gratifying when people call the office more than once.
Gordon recently phoned our headquarters again. “I’ve been reading the book The Great Controversy,” he said. “I would like to study the book of Revelation.”
“The Great Controversy will give you a good historical overview and foundation for studying the book of Revelation.” I replied. We talked some more, and I encouraged Gordon.
Please pray for Gordon and others like him in Europe who are searching for peace. May they come to know the Prince of Peace and find a welcoming church family eager to engage in Bible study and demonstrate Christ’s love in action and not just words.
