Recently, I was talking with the treasurer of one of the churches that has been faithfully supporting our project. She shared with me that she has been observing an interesting phenomenon. As the church members give more generously to our project, they also give more generously to the local church. In fact, in one month alone, this church gave more than $500 to our project. That very same month, they had a $400 surplus in their local church budget! I am reminded of Proverbs 11:24, 25: “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.”
I often pray that the people who give to our project will be blessed as they do, and I have been amazed to see how the Lord fulfills His promises. I have come to realize more fully that in asking people to become a part of our support team, I am not begging in some sanctified sort of way. Rather, I am giving them an opportunity to be a part of God’s work and experience His blessings in new ways. I have seen in my own life that when I give generously to support God’s work, even when I don’t feel I have the money to give, He more than provides for my necessities.
It is my prayer that everyone who has given generously to the unreached will abound with rich blessings, and that those who have not yet given will be inspired. Have you experienced the blessings of giving in your own life? Will you pray about what the Lord may be asking you to do on behalf of the unreached?
