“It seems like it’s time for our pledges to come in so we can launch.” Adam and I were discussing what steps to take next in order to complete our financial goals. We had made many calls and spoken with a number of people. It seemed like quite a few were willing to support us, and some even told us how much they would like to pledge. But somehow the last few monthly pledges didn’t seem to be coming in. We didn’t know what else we could do. “Let’s send out a prayer update asking our team to pray about it.” We had been praying already and knew of several others who were praying, but we wanted to pray together in unity. After we e-mailed this call for prayer, several prayer warriors responded almost immediately, encouraging us and committing to pray. The very next day, we received e-mails from numerous people letting us know they had turned in their pledges. By the end of the week, all but $300 was turned in to the AFM office, and by the next week all the pledges were in. Praise the Lord!
This experience was a strong reminder to us of the importance of a praying team. We are thankful for each of you who have been praying for us and supporting us.
No matter who “your” missionary is, the value of your prayers cannot be overstated. Jesus prayed for the unity of His followers, including us. After His ascension, the believers joined together in earnest prayer and unity of purpose. The results were amazing. As a harvest team, we can have this same experience.
As you read this article, we are experiencing our initiation into Cambodia, surrounded by an ocean of newness—new language, new foods, new smells, new plants, new friends. We will have many decisions to make and frustrations to deal with. We need your prayers. As you pray for us, you will be joining us on this journey with God. —Ruby Clay
