Yanique, a 19-year-old young man from the Balanta ethnic group in Guinea-Bissau, began attending our church plant in Antula about three years ago. He was very shy at first and rarely spoke during meetings. However, as he became involved in Bible studies, youth activities and outreach programs, we watched God transform his life little by little. Yanique gained confidence, learned to communicate well and began developing the qualities of a true Christian leader.
Like many young people in our church plant, Yanique is the only Seventh-day Adventist in his family, which brings many challenges. He regularly faces pressure related to food, traditional ceremonies and the cultural expectations of the Balanta community. Remaining faithful to Christ often requires difficult choices, yet he continues to stand firm in his commitment to follow Jesus.
Recently, Yanique shared how grateful he is that AFM missionaries came to his community in the Antula region, where there was no Adventist presence before the church plant. Through the ministry established there, he not only discovered the gospel but also found a place to grow spiritually, develop his gifts and prepare for service.
Today, Yanique is a respected and influential youth leader, passionate about sharing the hope of the gospel and actively working to make Christ known in his community.
Please keep Yanique and the many other young believers in Guinea-Bissau in your prayers. Every donor whose prayerful, faithful and generous support makes this ministry possible is helping transform lives in unreached communities and raise up a new generation of disciples and leaders for God’s kingdom. Thank you.
If you are not yet partnering with this mission, we warmly invite you to prayerfully consider becoming part of what God is doing in Guinea-Bissau. Together, we can bring the hope of Christ to places where His name is still largely unknown.
