Evidence of Things Not Seen

When I travel down memory lane, I see clearly how the Lord has led and guided us. Sometimes it is easy to only remember the unfortunate times in our lives. However, I want to challenge us to make it a point to take time daily, weekly or monthly to stop and meditate on God’s promises and how He has fulfilled them in our lives. God’s Word is true. Things may not happen how or when we want them to, but that doesn’t mean God has let us down. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Heb. 11:1). In my experience, this is when I get to exercise my faith. Take a moment and think of how God has blessed you.

For us, one of those moments was last year when a friend asked us to help host an orphan teenager from Eastern Europe for the summer. It all happened so fast, and we didn’t know how we would raise the funds. But we prayed about it and felt the Lord’s leading, so we agreed. In the few months we had to prepare, the Lord raised the money in ways we never could have on our own.

Now as we are praying for a team of donors and prayer warriors for our mission to Ireland, we see the Lord doing it again. We are still in the early stages of fundraising, and God has already manifested His mighty power. The generosity of friends, family, church family and people we don’t even know has touched us and reminded us that this is God’s work. This is His project, and He is passionate about you, about me and about everyone in Ireland longing to hear His gospel of reconciliation and peace.
