Eduring Tragedy

Devastation surrounded me. My eyes surveyed the damage left by the hurricane, and I shuddered to think of the personal tragedies of those caught in the storm’s path. Although Katrina brought out the worst in some people, she also revealed the best in others. Generosity was revealed in people who came to help and in the donations and prayers that flooded in from all over the world.

It is right and good to help those in great physical need, but as I stood there amid the rubble, I wondered if there was devastation on an even greater scale that wasn’t making the headlines. While the world’s attention is focused on the seemingly unrelenting series of disasters, could we have forgotten the eternal results of the tragedy of billions of people living and dying without Christ, without even the opportunity to hear the gospel? Have we grown so numb that we don’t feel compassion for the unreached?

My thoughts turned to the Albanians, a people who have long known tragedy. They have endured many wars, decades of isolation and oppression, and brutal religious persecution. Yet, Albania remains largely forgotten by the world. But God remembers them. He wants to send help.

Will you allow the Albanian tragedy to bring out the best in you? We’re waiting for a few more people who are determined to do something about it. If God is speaking to your heart, please don’t put it off until later. Join our team of monthly supporters today.
