Our family has been living in Mali for more than four years now, and we have seen God’s protecting hand many times. However, no instance has been quite so breathtaking as the one that happened last month.

We had just finished our evening family worship time, and the kids fell asleep as sang the last couple of songs. Usually we just pick them up and carry them into their darkened bedroom, placing them in their beds and tucking their mosquito nets around the mattresses securely to make sure no creepy-crawlies join them in the night. That night, though, Neil felt impressed to turn on the light in their bedroom before carrying the kids in. I heard him gasp and call me. I hurried in and gasped myself when I saw the huge scorpion crouching on the inside upper corner of Clay’s mosquito net. Neil quickly dispatched the scorpion, and after thoroughly checking both beds, we tucked the kids in.

I shudder to think what might have happened if Neil had ignored the Spirit’s prompting to turn on the light before tucking Clay into bed. Praise the Lord for His goodness! Nothing is hidden from Him! Thanks so much for your prayers on behalf of the people of Mali and for us.
