The rain began suddenly and without warning. The sun shone through the rain as it pounded on the neighbor’s aluminum awning-garage outside my door. It made everything glisten as if shiny new. I love rain, especially during the day. It cools off everything and keeps the dust down. My favorite activity is to go running in a morning rain shower. How can you truly experience the rain unless you are in it?
This is by no means an old sentiment. It’s something I’ve learned in the past year overseas. Rain at home in southwestern Washington is the enemy. Only during my stay here have I begun to understand the importance of rain to a dry or hot land. Rain is a blessing: “I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing.” Ezekiel 34:26
