Pam’s Story

“Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me . . . and let your soul delight itself in abundance” (Isaiah 55:2).

A donor’s testimony inspired me to look carefully at how I spend each dollar God has entrusted to me. I pray Pam’s* story inspires you as it did me.

“I love shopping!

“As I often do, I found myself browsing the store for clothes. I didn’t need more, but I love buying just the right outfit. There it was. I spotted just the right piece! It would be a lovely addition to my wardrobe. While I stood there, outfit in hand, the Holy Spirit tugged on my heart. ‘You don’t need more clothes.’ I could hear Him whispering in my ear.

“Stories of people who haven’t heard of Jesus and His love flooded my mind. I realized I needed to invest money in spreading the gospel, not in material things I didn’t really need. It is time we must be preparing for Jesus to come!

“‘Lord,’ I said, ‘If you give me the grace to walk away and forget about this outfit, I will go home right now and donate to Adventist Frontier Missions to help others learn about Jesus.’”

God is patient with us. We are selfish human beings, seeking our own desires while millions are dying without knowing the peace that comes from knowing our Savior.

Will you consider surrendering to God and ask Him if you are spending your “money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy?” Ask Him to show you what to sacrifice for the sake of sharing the gospel with those who don’t have access.
