Many years ago, a young Catholic father and mother in Southern Peru were worried about their daughter’s education. The elementary school she attended was far from home, and she had to ride the bus late in the evening alone, which was dangerous.
They decided to move their daughter to a closer school, which happened to be a Seventh-day Adventist institution, and she attended there through high school. Because of the influence of that school, she decided to attend an Adventist university in a neighboring country. At the university, the young woman gave her heart to Jesus and decided to be baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Half a world away, a young American man was finishing his studies at an Adventist university in North America. His time in Adventist schools, both as a missionary kid in Africa and later at a university, led him to volunteer for a year as an English teacher at an Adventist university in South America.
You can probably see where the story is going: the young woman and the young man met at the Adventist university where she was studying and he was volunteering. They fell in love, and this past December they were married—a marriage made possible by Adventist education.
As you think about how you can share Jesus with others, please consider supporting AFM’s Children’s Education Fund. This fund makes it possible for the children of AFM missionaries to attend Adventist academies and universities. It takes an enormous weight off the shoulders of missionary parents, and it makes mission service possible for parents who couldn’t serve without the extra support. And, of course, the education missionary children receive at Adventist institutions changes their lives, both on this earth and for eternity.
If you read our magazine regularly, you may have guessed that my wife and I are the couple described above. We are living proof of the power of Adventist education. We have had excellent academic experiences, we are both committed Seventh-day Adventist Christians, and we met each other, all because of our experiences with Adventist education.
Thank you for prayerfully considering supporting the AFM Children’s Education Fund. Thank you for making Adventist education available to the children of AFM missionaries who are sharing Jesus with those who don’t know Him. Thank you for investing in them for eternity.
