“Check. Do you have anything around your house that needs fixing?” our pastor paused to ask after finishing the afternoon Bible study with my son at our house. “We have a group of young people who help with things like painting or repairing fences for people in the community.”
I glanced over at our broken-down, sad-looking fence and replied, “Sure, why not?”
A few days later, I was introduced to Chad and his group, who came by to discuss the project. Chad shared that he and his team visit different churches in search of opportunities to serve and bless others. To my surprise, he told me they did not just want to patch the fence; they wanted to remove it entirely and build a brand-new one.
In that moment, my heart, which had been struggling with half-hearted devotion, stirred and softened with joy. I realized God was blessing me, not because I had done anything to earn it, but because of who He is.
A few months later, the Lord did something even greater—He rebuilt my heart, just like that fence. I decided to surrender my life to Him fully. That was 2019. From that point on, I saw God continuously working in my life. When it came time to sell our home, I asked the Lord for a specific sale amount, promising to give the difference back to Him if He answered. When the day came, not only did He meet my request, He exceeded it by $10,000.
God had proven Himself faithful to me, and it was now my turn to be faithful to Him. With tears in my eyes, I wrote the largest check I had ever written—a donation, just as I had promised—to an SDA billboard ministry.
A year later, God’s favor continued. The Lord opened the door for me to purchase a new home. Not just any home, but one that fit everything I had prayed for. And once again, He moved in an unexpected way; the sellers lowered the price significantly below what they had been asking.
I will never forget how God poured out undeserved favor over my life. He showed me that He is faithful even when we are not, and He is always working for our good.
When we experience God’s faithfulness, it naturally creates a desire to share that same hope with others. One of the most impactful ways we can do this is by supporting those who have responded to the call to serve as missionaries. Is God inviting you to enter a deeper faith experience with Him this New Year? Would you help us get 2026 off to a strong start by supporting the AFM Go Fund, Student Missions or the Children’s Education Fund?
“Test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessings that there will not be room enough to receive it” (Malachi 3:10).
