Breads, from Physical to Spiritual

In my April 2026 article, “Dog Treats and Bread,” I concluded with Mr. B inviting me into his home (a first) and how we sat down for a long and interesting conversation.

As we sat in his dining room, Mr. B began to talk about his realization that he needs to start eating healthier, not just the good bread my wife and I provided him that day, but also where he buys his food. The conversation then turned to spiritual food.

Mr. B admitted that he sees the Sabbath truth in the Bible, but is unsure whether it is a salvational issue. He also shared that he believes that when someone dies, they are just resting until Jesus returns. However, he maintains his belief that there is an eternal hell that burns forever.

“I get so mad at God when I hear of children suffering,” Mr. B said—a point that has caused him to question God’s existence or whether God is truly loving.

“I believe it hurts God to see the suffering even more than we could ever imagine,” I shared in response. “There are things in the Bible and in this life that we may never understand while living in this sinful world. But I believe God will one day show us what we could not see here.

“I believe that God will give us personal time in Heaven to ask Him our questions, and He will explain it all at that time. I believe He is already planning days when He will come to me and say, ‘Today is just for you and me. Let’s go for a walk, and you ask me all the questions you have, and I will explain everything.’”

I could see Mr. B soften.

“I believe God has a day or multiple days set aside just so you can ask Him to help you understand everything that has ever perplexed you and caused you to struggle.”

“I hope that you are right,” Mr. B replied. “I would love that. However, it will take a while because I have a lot of questions and many reasons why I am mad at God right now. It feels like Satan attacks my thoughts.”

I shared with Mr. B how to verbally rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus Christ. We talked about how 2 Corinthians 1:20 says that “all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” I also shared that we have the right, through Jesus Christ, to fight the lies of Satan with the truth and promises of God’s word.

Mr. B went a bit deeper, “I have done too much and gone too far to be forgiven.”

I then shared the story of King Manasseh (2 Kings 21:1-18). “If God could forgive Manasseh, then He can forgive you and every one of us.”

Though Mr. B had walked away from God, he said that he wanted to give God another chance.

“I have to leave, but can I pray for you before I go?” I asked.

“Yes,” Mr. B replied, and we spent the next several minutes lifting up Jesus Christ and rebuking Satan on his behalf. After that, I said goodnight and headed home.

Several weeks later, I saw Mr. B again.

“I realize now that my anger towards God should have been towards Satan this whole time. I am starting to understand that God is not the one causing the pain and suffering. Satan had blinded me, and I blamed God for everything.”

“Have you taken the time to confess and repent of these things that God has been revealing to you?”

“I have, though I am still having a hard time. Please continue to pray for me.”

There in his front yard, Mr. B and I prayed. “Jesus, I ask you to rebuke Satan on Mr. B’s behalf. Please set him free from the chains the enemy has had on him for so many years.”

“Thank you for taking the time to talk and pray with me,” Mr. B said.

Will you join me in continuing to pray for Mr. B? Mr. B believes that he must fight Satan. Please pray that he will realize that it is Jesus’ role to fight Satan and that his role is to surrender to Jesus and resist the devil through the strength and power of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your prayers and your continued support in spreading the gospel near and far. Around the world, people struggle with similar questions and frustrations; many—the unreached—not even realizing they have a loving Creator who wants to bear their burdens and lead them into all light and truth, becoming their Friend, Savior and Lord.
