About the People

AFM has an exciting new mission opportunity in one of the largest and most influential urban areas in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Home to millions of people, most of whom are Sunni Muslims, it is a center for Islamic learning and culture and has a young population.

Ministry in this Muslim stronghold, as well as other Muslim nations where open evangelism is not an option, is highly complex and risky due to strict laws against proselytizing. Christians are viewed with suspicion. Yet missionaries do share the gospel under these constraints.

While there are roughly two billion Muslims worldwide, almost one quarter of the world’s population, according to estimates, there is only one Christian missionary for every 400,000 to 1,000,000 Muslims. Reaching Arab Muslims is a recognized challenge, but the church is ready to invest and partner with those willing to work in this field.

About the Project

We are looking for at least two families willing to devote 8-10 years to working with existing personnel already engaged in frontline service. While learning the native language and engaging in focused culture study, the families would also build relationships with locals to better understand the community’s needs. To stay in the country long-term, they will need to obtain an appropriate visa, possibly through starting a business, enrolling as a student at a local university or finding employment, such as teaching English.
