For centuries, the Grand Palace, or Wang Luang, was the principal residence of Thai kings and their royal households. Historically, Thai people worshiped their kings as devas, demigods born to help relieve people’s troubles and poverty.

We have visited the Grand Palace in Bangkok on several occasions, and it is a magnificent structure. Royal guards are posted throughout the complex to protect the property and to keep visitors out of restricted areas. The most important part of the palace, the central throne hall, is one of the restricted areas that visitors are not allowed to enter. This is where the king grants audiences to foreign envoys and heads of state and greets well-wishers on royal birthdays.

As we prepare to relaunch to Thailand to begin our ministry among the Thai Buddhist people, we are praying that many Thais will come to know Jesus and gain entry to His heavenly throne room.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Heb. 4:16).
