Being back in the USA on furlough is much more enjoyable now than it was during our first furlough three years ago. Our family agrees that knowing what to expect, staying in prayer and being better prepared has made all the difference.
This reminds me of Jesus’ soon return. Jesus did not just say He was coming one day. He painted a picture of what to expect beforehand, telling us to pray and to prepare our hearts by developing a close, genuine relationship with Him, enabling Him to live in our hearts (Galatians 2:20).
Our furlough preparations were equally intentional. One of my daughters started praying months before we left. My husband and I began scheduling and preparing all the behind-the-scenes work almost a year before.
Preparation always requires intentionality, but particularly daily intentionality as we seek to fulfill the Great Commission and live out God’s purpose for us. Intentionality keeps us focused. Although being back in the States with family and in familiar places full of memories has made us contemplate life here, living with intentionality quickly reminds us that our place is in Thailand. Commodities in the USA are no temptation for us when we consider our friends, the children and the people we have studied the Bible with in Thailand.
Our place is clear. Our mission is calling. And we are ready to return. Thank you for your continuous prayers and support. Your partnership and your intentionality in sustaining world missions are a blessing to the unreached and to our family.
