Nelia

Lacy wisps of mist floated up the valley in the grey pre-dawn. Nelia sat silently looking out over the peaceful scene. For a moment the mist cleared, and she saw what looked like a great white wall through the trees in the distance.

As she gazed at the sight, a voice spoke from heaven. “Nelia, that wall you see is the Balangabong church. What a waste it would be if you didn’t go back.”

Happy memories rushed through her. It had been years since she had moved away from Balangabong and stopped going to church. She had married into a local cult and had slowly drifted into the old ways. She was filled with a yearning to be a Christian again.

Almost as quickly, though, her joy turned to sorrow. She had done so much evil. For years she had turned her back on God. “There’s no hope.” She mourned. “I’m too far gone.”

The voice spoke again. “Nelia, it’s not too late. I can forgive your sins. It would be such a waste if you didn’t come back.” As the voice died away, she caught one more glimpse of the gleaming white wall of the Balangabong church through the mist.

Suddenly Nelia was wide awake. It had been a dream. But, oh how she wanted to return to God! As the village roosters serenaded the morning, Nelia made her way to our missionary’s house and shared her dream. “I want to come back,” she said. “I’m afraid to, though. Please help me come back to God.”

Please pray for Nelia. May God continue to draw her back into His church, and may she become an effective witness to her relatives.
