Sharing Jesus and planting seeds of His love is not as difficult as it might appear. God is always at work, and we just need to be ready to join in.

I was reminded of this during our good-bye visit to my family in Colombia. One morning I was invited to join in the work of the Holy Spirit. “Claudette, remember my best friend?” my aunt asked me. “She wants to have an appointment with you to chat.” I certainly did remember her, and I was happy for a chance to meet with her. I wondered what she wanted to talk about, and I prayed for God’s wisdom.
When we were finally together, my aunt’s friend and I had a wonderful time reconnecting and catching up. She shared some personal things, and we exchanged words of encouragement. However, I sensed that there was something else she wanted to talk about. Finally, she got down to it. She told me she had been reading her denomination’s literature about end-time events. It turned out that there was a lot in common with Adventist beliefs. She wanted to share this information with me so that I could share it with others.

I affirmed her eagerness to be ready for Jesus’ second coming, and I told her I would be happy to read the literature. I also offered that sometime in the future when we had more time we could talk more in-depth about the Bible’s end-time teachings. I felt the Holy Spirit telling me that our friendship needs to be built stronger before I can share with her in detail. But in the meantime I was happy for an opportunity to plant seeds and join in what God was doing in her heart. I pray that, in due time, her heart will be ready to accept the Bible’s teachings, as it will be difficult for her to let go of many of the traditions she holds dear.

Please pray with me for my new friend and also for all of the people we will befriend in Thailand. As we plant gospel seeds, we need to pray for the Spirit to make people’s hearts ready for life-changing decisions.

I remember how hard this life change was for me. When I was 11 years old and first studied the Bible and learned that we should only pray to one God, I prayed, “God, I know what the Bible is teaching me. But I have been taught my whole life that I can pray to others and ask them to help and intercede for me. I want to do what the Bible says, but this is very hard for me. Dear God, help me to feel comfortable not praying to statues and to follow what You teach me.” God is good, and His Spirit worked a miracle in my heart.
