As I have been visiting my grandparents, I have had the opportunity to wake up each morning to a beautiful view of the mountains. The scene fills me with peace, and I love reflecting on scripture as I enjoy the panorama.
However, one morning I awoke to find my beautiful view hidden by fog. I missed being able to see the mountains, but I felt God say to me, “All the elements that make this view beautiful are still there.” Though I could not see the mountains, they were there just as surely as ever. And so was the glorious rising sun, though it was hidden, too.
It is the same with the love of God and His promises. They are true and will always be there. The fog of problems or tragedy might hide them for a while, but it cannot take them away.
I want to encourage you as the Lord encouraged me. He is always there no matter what the circumstances are or how long we have been waiting for our prayers to be answered. Just remember that He is present and working in our lives even when we do not see or feel Him. As I think of Ireland—how resistant it is to church planting and how broken it is with high rates of alcoholism and suicide—I realize that the Holy Spirit has always been there, moving in people’s hearts and preparing them to be receptive to His truth.
Join us as we prepare to continue the work God has done through faithful AFM missionaries who have given so many years of service to Ireland, planting and watering seeds for His kingdom. We long to be there this time next year. With your prayers and support and God’s blessing, we can do it.
