A Kiss from God

“I’m so thrilled we were able to buy your house,” the wife said, smiling. “It’s a kiss from God.” We were standing in the kitchen, chatting together. I thought back over the past year; all the times we had wondered why we were still here in Norway, why our house hadn’t sold, what God’s plan was. In a few short days, a large part of His big picture had been revealed.

Selling our house has taken almost a year, and it has felt like a very long time. We had to remind ourselves almost daily that God had a plan, that He would bring a buyer in His time and that our responsibility was to keep trusting in Him.

We have prayed a lot about the selling of this house, and we are not the only ones. Many of you, our readers, friends, family, and prayer groups have prayed. Now God has answered. Our house is sold! By the time you read this, we will be adjusting to new sights, sounds and smells in Benin.

The couple that bought our house is about our age with a young daughter. One is American, and one is Norwegian—like us. They are Christians starting a health-food business. “We never thought of praying that we would be able to buy a house from a Christian family,” she continued. “I was aghast at how many unbelievers there are here in Norway.” She went on to tell about how when she told one of her co-workers that she is a Christian he said, “I just lost all respect for you.”

“I’ve come to see that I need to just show them Jesus instead of talk about Him,” she concluded.

Thank you, Jesus, for selling our house to people who want to be a light for You in this neighborhood.—Maggi Harral
