Justina Thomas

From 2016 to present, Justina has been serving as a student missionary among the Palawano people of the Philippines. In December of 2018, while continuing her ministry in the Philippines, she began the transition to career mission servic.

I’m a registered nurse working on the Palawano project in the Philippines.

As a child my mother read us mission stories. I also had close relatives who were in mission work. After I gave my heart to God at 14, I felt God calling me to be a missionary. At 17 I lived in Guyana, South America for a year helping at a secondary school. This experience was life changing. I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. I also spent a year in India to learn midwifery. After nursing school I was going to get a job for a year and then see about mission work. My family encouraged me to start talking to mission organizations. So I applied to several. AFM called me the next day, they needed a nurse to go to Palawan to cover the clinic while Carrie was in the States transitioning to Career missionary. This was Wednesday, they needed me at training starting that Sunday. I said ok God and went.

I really love working with God at the clinic. I have seen amazing answers to prayer. People healed from demon possession, oxygen tanks that ran on empty, people alive that should have died.

I love seeing God work in the lives of people, like the girl who said that she didn’t have to be afraid of the ghosts anymore because now she knows what they really are.

For the future I’m transitioning to being a career missionary with AFM and working full time at the clinic here on the Palawan project.

Frontier Stories

A Chain of Miracles

Finally, it’s here! I thought. With trembling fingers, I tore open the envelope and snatched out my passport. Would the visa stamp be in it?

Prayers for Palawan

Thank you for lifting up our dear Palawano friends. Thank you for praying that all of the thousands of Palawanos who have not yet met Jesus will have their chance to hear about and accept their Savior.

Harvest Time

Please pray that God will send more laborers into His harvest field. Pray that He will open the doors so that I can get my visa and return to my Palawano people as soon as AFM training is over here in Michigan.

Juritu

Please keep Juritu in your prayers that God will continue to use this experience to draw him and his family to faith. Pray that Juritu will see the love Jesus has for him and Jesus’ power in answer to his own prayers.

Kibim

Please keep Kibim and his family in your prayers. Pray that his mother will be able to find freedom in Jesus from the curse of the spirits. Pray that Kibim and his sisters will find in Jesus the friend that they so desperately need.
