Have you ever wished no one could see you? In countries like Cambodia, Tanzania or Lesotho, I am without camouflage. My height and light skin make me different. People know instantly that I am from somewhere else, and not just because of my odd clothing or sun-shade hat. Then they tend to stare and laugh at everything I do as if I’m a Barnum and Bailey Circus act. It really makes me wish I was better camouflaged.

AFM asks missionaries to fit in as much as possible with their people group in dress, food choices and living accommodations. This breaks down barriers so we can live among the people, get to know them deeply and share our amazing God with them. So we go without camouflage and feel uncomfortable for a little while until people begin looking past our differences and seeing Jesus in us.

Do you like to stand out? Is it comfortable for you to set a whole village astir just by your presence? Most likely it is not comfortable. However, we are called to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ no matter the cost to us. Please pray for us as we prepare to go to places where we will be without camouflage.
