The Woman at the Bank

We pulled up to our bank to make a withdrawal. As we exited the drive-through, I noticed an older woman whose car had a flat tire, and some people who were apparently helping her. I immediately felt impressed to give this woman a specific amount of money. But the rational part of my mind countered that this woman seemed to have plenty of help, so I didn’t need to intervene.

We had driven only a few blocks before my wife turned to me and said, “Boaz, I think we need to go back and help that woman at the bank and give her some money.” I looked at her, speechless. She took my shocked silence as disagreement. “What, you don’t think we should?” she asked. I told her I definitely thought we should, and shared the impression I’d had at the bank. And we had both felt impressed to give the woman the same amount of money!

Needless to say, we returned to the bank immediately and found the woman alone. As I gave her the money, I shared that God had impressed us to give it to her and urged her to accept it as a gift from Him. Tears came to her eyes as she told us she didn’t have a spare tire or any money for a new tire. She had been praying at the very moment we knocked on her window. We prayed and thanked God together for hearing the prayers of His children.

The Lord is again calling our hearts. The Great River People of Cambodia need our help! They are spiritually destitute and need the peace that only the love of Jesus can bring. Do you sense God calling your heart as well?
