In late January, I was able to take another trip to visit our Pnong Project. What made the trip extra-special is that I was able to take 32 people with me, some of whom I had never met before. The group came to visit for two weeks and to help construct our school building. It was truly an amazing trip, and I saw God work in so many ways.
The first half of the group arrived late on Monday night. By the time we got to our hotel, it was about 1 a.m. As I began helping check everyone in, we discovered that three of our bags were missing. Panic gripped my heart as I realized that one of the bags was carrying about $10,000 in cash that we needed for trip expenses!
After a thorough search of the vans, we decided we must have left the bags outside the airport. We prayed together, and then two people went with the van drivers back to the airport. I pulled a driver aside. “How likely do you think it is that we will get those bags back?” I asked him.
“Not very likely,” he said. “The airport is closed now.”
I handed out the keys to the rest of the group and bid them goodnight. Then I went to my room to continue praying. Even though it was after 1:30 a.m., I was wide awake with anxiety. I tried taking a shower, but the water was cold. Why is this trip starting off this way? I thought. I continued to pray as I showered. Then my roommate called to me through the bathroom door, telling me my phone was ringing. “Answer it!” I called. A few moments later she told me the bags had all been found, and nothing was missing. Praise God! How merciful He is! After that, I knew God had big plans for this trip. I was excited to see how He was going to work.
