Long-term Service

Did you know that your skills/profession will play a secondary role to that of a church planter? As a career missionary, you will spend the first year or two in language and culture learning. After you have established a trust relationship with the people, you can introduce them to Jesus and establish a church. A project is complete when the newly established church functions independently of the missionaries and has planted a daughter and granddaughter church.

What makes AFM's missionaries effective is their ability to fluently speak the heart language of the various unreached people groups we serve. Experience has shown that learning a second language fluently beyond the age of 35 is very difficult. For that reason, we look for career missionary applicants age 35 and under. However, we do make exceptions. We will consider you if you have had significant previous mission service experience and/or have learned a second language fluently in adulthood. We also look at factors such as flexibility and adaptability in difficult circumstances, ages of children, etc.

All AFM missionaries are responsible to raise all their own funds.
