- Sep 8, 2009 -- New house
We just moved into a new quarter of town and ask you to pray for us as we become acquainted with our new neighbors. Pray that we will make friendships for the kingdom and that our home will be a place of peace and blessing for all those who enter.
Answered November 6, 2009.We are well settled and praise God for new friends. Next door is an orphanage/boarding house with close to 80 children. Toussaint has become “big brother” to some of the boys, counselling them and having fun with them. The director gave us permission to have prayer with the children on Sunday nights. We are singing and praying together and telling them bible stories. Toussaint has also started a band aid clinic for them
- Jul 19, 2009 -- Our culture studies
Please keep praying for our culture studies. After being in the country for so long and being well established in the local community as well as the church with a lot of responsibilities it is a daily struggle to find time for our studies. Pray also for good contacts and sources of information to help us in our culture studies.

- Sep 22, 2008 -- Vehicle needed
I will be needing a new vehicle soon. My current vehicle is getting old and needs more and more repairs. It hasn’t been easy to decide what kind of vehicle to buy or how much to spend. Please keep this matter in your prayers.

- Sep 17, 2008 -- Two prayer requests
Please pray that the Kotale sawmill crew will get motivated to finish cutting the timbers for our house. They keep promising things but instead they do other jobs before ours or just don't work at all. About four more full days of work on our timbers would probably complete the job. There are only two more weeks that they can do our work and then Dale will be here with the Whites and we will no longer be working on the house project until we return from Port Moresby in November. Meanwhile, the water in going down, making it extremely difficult to get the cut timbers out of the bush and transported to the building site in Kewa.
- Sep 17, 2008 -- Cousin
My cousin Rita Miller's daughter, Valerie Miller Elliot, was just diagnosed with stage four melanoma and has been given 6 or 7 months to live. Already her bones are deteriorating and on Monday she had surgery to place titanium rods in her back to support the spine, take out a tumor and the deteriorated vertebra. Thursday she is scheduled to have surgery on her fractured left arm.Valerie was just married to Brad Elliot July 1, 2007 and they soon afterwards went to Korea to teach English. It was while they were there that she started having problems and sought medical attention. Just last week they quit their jobs and came back to the U.S. She was immediately taken to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. Since they were both working in Korea, they don't have jobs or insurance. Her attitude is good but the pain and stress of this illness can quickly wear on a person. Please keep her and the family in your prayers.

- Nov 13, 2009 -- Bubit's thyroid tumor
Bubit, Jilin's older sister, just underwent thyroid surgery. The preliminary diagnosis is papillary thyroid hyperplasia, but Tuesday we'll have confirmation as to whether this is cancerous or not. Please pray for her and pray for a correct diagnosis, and that if it is God's will, it not be cancer!
- Jun 22, 2008 -- Mindan, spiritual depression
Please pray for my young friend Mindan. She struggles with depression and recently along with conviction for sin and a recommitment to Christ she's been really struggling with "feeling" right with God. After several sessions with her, she's coming to understand that our feelings aren't reliable guides to our right standing with God. The other thing she struggles with is not understanding God's word or the teachings she hears. When I explained to her that even us seasoned Christians don't readily understand everything and that we'll be learning for eternity the depths of the things of God, she seemed relieved that she wasn't alone in her struggles to understand. Anyway, I have her on St. John's wort, which come to find out, she'd quit taking. She does better on it, but still don't want to ignore that she also has spiritual struggles that impact her emotions as well.
Mindan is married and has two children. Her husband, Agus, is one of our school teachers and they are fairly happily married. Mindan, though, is an orphan and feels the alienation deeply. She is alienated because she doesn't have any parents to defend her rights, so people makie fun of her, accuse her of things and in general try to make her life miserable. The worst part of it is, that her husbands' family are the worst ones for doing this to her, and yet he feels powerless to move his family OUT of the village.
Anyway, that gives you a little insight into Mindan and she thanks you for your prayers. I asked if she'd like people to pray for her int he states, and she was very touched.
Thank you for your prayers

- Oct 8, 2007 -- Residency Permits
Despite warnings that we might be disqualified due to our extended absence, our family was finally granted five-year residency permits. Hallelujah!! (We could have been declared ineligible to apply for at least two more years.)

- Sep 24, 2009 -- Neil and Holly Lovitt
We are struggling with various sicknesses. Please pray esp. for Neil's back, he re-injured an old back injury and has not been able to do much for the past 2 weeks. We are asking the Lord for healing so that we can move forward on our projected move to Kangaba in October of this year.

- Oct 3, 2008 -- Pray
We’re feeling a need to ask for prayer on behalf of our friend Pranai who works with Jonathan. He is preparing for baptism in November – something we have hoped and prayed for for a long time. However, he’s feeling a lot of pressure in recent days. Becoming Christian here is definitely swimming against the current. Add to that pressure from family to participate in holidays and confusion over whether some cultural practices are in harmony with the Bible or not. Further add glowing reports from friends who’ve gone abroad to work which makes him wonder if he made the right decision to stay here. He’s being bombarded right now with doubts. Please lift him up to our Father in prayer.
- Apr 1, 2008 -- Pray for a schoolboy
Good news!! In our last email we asked for special prayer for a boy named La Tshering to be able to pass school entrance exams and get admission to the SDA school in Falakata (about 5 hours from here.)....The great news is that he passed the exam with flying colors and gained admission to the school! There is one shadow on the situation which we'd like to ask ongoing prayer for. As you remember this young man hasn't been in a regular school for 3 years. The admission policies are strict – he has to start where his official paperwork shows he left off. That means he is 14 and going into 5th grade with a lot of children several years younger. He is disheartened about it, as you can imagine. Please pray he won't be discouraged by the situation; pray he'll really focus on his studies and make the best of it instead of focusing on the negatives. We pray, too, he'll find good friends there.

- Nov 19, 2007 -- Prayer for words
It\'s 10:50pm in Albania on the 19th of Nov. I just received a phone call from my friend Zaku, his father Ramadan has died. Tomorrow they will have the funeral. Please pray for this dear family, and once again for Me and Brenda that I will have the words to share with the family.
- Nov 14, 2007 -- Pray for Ramadan
This morning I found out that my friend Zaku's father Ramadan has suffered a stroke. Zaku has become a very close friend and has allowed me to pray for his father at the hospital. The prognosis is not good for Ramadan. He has lost his hearing, sight, speech and complete movement. Please pray for this family and for me (Sean) that i will have the words to share with my friend.

- Apr 30, 2008 -- Pray for leaders
Our job description suggests we work ourselves out of a job—raising up a church that plants other churches without our help. However, we can only work ourselves out of a job if we have trained leaders in place. Kapitango has been working with us for the past 13 years. For the past six years or so, we have been trying to help him get into a pastoral training program. This dream was finally realized last week. Pray for the success of Kapitango’s studies. Pray that we can send more youth for training. The Petersens in Namibia
- Mar 3, 2008 -- Prayers for the Himba
We are reaching the most crucial part of our project — creating an evangelistic tool. Pray for us through this most important phase. We want to finish the writing this year and start creating a tool when we return from furlough in February 2009. In the meantime, Pam will continue to do some community projects; building bridges of care and demonstrating God’s love in the community. Pray for wisdom as we choose media for evangelism and
guidance as we write stories for our host people.

- Sep 22, 2008 -- Yay Pakamaat
Yay Pakamaat, of whom we wrote about in our Sept article, is being greatly tempted. Her older sister, who is a respected teacher in Bangkok, has chosen to throw a big merit-making party that will have the whole village in attendance taking part. And this whole party will take place in Yay Pakamaat’s front yard. She will face extreme pressure from ALL of her relatives and ALL her fellow villagers to join in in the idol worship ceremony. Pray that God would give her courage to face the ridicule, the mockery, the pleadings, and commands of those that she loves most. Pray that Satan would be bound.
- Sep 22, 2008 -- Radio Station
All three of our radio station workers have said that they hear very strange noises in the station. Sounds of walking, of slamming doors and windows, and most recently people calling their names when there is no one around. We are convinced that Satan is at work to counter the radio station, and we are all certain that at least one open door has been made for Satan to enter through a cherished spirit of criticism. There are people within our church and radio team that have very critical of others, attacking and putting down other members in the team. Please pray that God will give us wisdom, discernment, courage, and grace to deal with this problem.
Also one person who was very fundamental in getting this radio station started, has recently shown a total lack of interest in things related to God. This person appears to have totally changed and become another person, and it’s quite disturbing to the rest of us. Please pray for their restoration.
